Skil-Care was founded by Steve Warhaftig, an electrical engineer who spent more than 20 years with the U.S. Navy before turning his focus toward healthcare innovation. His motivation was deeply personal. After witnessing firsthand the challenges his aging father faced in a nursing home, including the devastating impact of pressure sores that ultimately contributed to his father’s death, Steve knew something had to change. Working closely with nurses and frontline caregivers, he began developing practical medical devices designed to improve patient safety, comfort, dignity, and quality of life. He addressed the unmet needs that clinical textbooks rarely covered, but caregivers faced every single day.
